Arm Muscles Flashcards
Function of medial & lateral intermuscular septal?
deep fasia that divides the arm into anterior and posterior compartments
What muscles are in the anterior/flexor compartment?
- biceps brachii
- coracobrachialis
- brachialis
What are the muscles in the posterior compartment?
- Triceps brachii
What nerve innervates the anterior and posterior compartments?
Anterior = musculocutaneous n
posterior = radial n
O, I & function of biceps brachii?
O:
long head: supraglenoid tubercle
short head: coracoid process
I: Radial tuberosity & fascia
Function:
1. Flex forearm (both)
2. Supination (both)
3. Flex shoulder (long)
**long head only crosses shoulder joint
O, I & function of coracobrachialis?
O: coracoid process
I: humurus (middle 3rd medial)
Function:
1. Flex arm @ shoulder joint
2. Adduction @ shoulder joint (esp horizontal)
O, I & function of brachialis?
O: anterior distal humerus
I: Ulnar tuberosity & coronoid process (ulna)
F: Flex forearm @ elbow
O, I & function of triceps brachii?
O:
long: infraglenoid tubercle
lateral: post. lat. humerus (superior to radial groove)
medial: posterior humerus (inferior to radial groove
I: olecranon process (ulna)
Function:
1. Extend forearm
2. Extension of arm (long head)
What muscle does elbow flexion with supination?
biceps
What muscle does elbow flexion with pronation?
brachialis
What muscle does flexion with mid pronation
brachioradialis
