a language disorder caused by brain damage, often stroke, that affects our ability to communicate.

if the damage affects the Broca area then…

the aphasia is “expressive” meaning the person has difficulty pronouncing language like sequencing words and speaking clearly.

A
the aphasia is “receptive” meaning the person struggles to understand language, even though they may speak fluently but nonsensically.
