when to use buspirone for anxiety
used for Anxiety for patients who do not respond to antidepressants or in a patient at risk of abuse with benzodiazepines
how long to get the max effect of buspar for anx
2-4 weeks for optimal effect
se buspar
SE: nausea, dizziness, headache, lightheadedness, excitement
dose buspar
Dose: start 7.5mg BID and can increase 5mg/day Q2-3 days
when to avoide buspar
avoid use if severe kidney or liver dysfunction
Buspirone Drug Interactions
Decrease dose with erythromycin, diltiazem, verapamil, and any inhibitor3A4 inducers
avoid large amounts of grapefruit
Benzodiazepines
Lorazepam (Ativan), alprazolam (Xanax), chlordiazepoxide (Librium), clonazepam (Klonopin), diazepam (Valium), oxazepam
