Anticoagulants Flashcards
enoxaparin trade name
lovenox
enoxaparin action
prevents conversion fibrinogen to fibrin, and prothrombin to thrombin by enhancing anti thrombin 3 which prevents formation blood clots. Lovenox treats/ prevents deep vein thrombosis.
binds to antithrombin 3 inactivating xa and ilia creating high ratio anti factor xa to IIa
enoxaparin why use
prevent DVT, PE in post op patients, angina, MI, coronary artery thrombosis
enoxaparin routes admin
SUBCUT, IV
enoxaparin doses
1mg/kg q12h
enoxaparin side effects
hematuria, haemorrhage, thrombocytopenia, anaphylactic reaction, bloody stools
hemmorhage, anemia, thrombocytopenia, bleeding
osteoporosis
hyperkalemia
eccymosis, hematoma
enoxaparin nursing considerations
blood studies, platelet count (thrombocytopenia), report bleeding
do not use if: pregnant, child, diabetes, renal disease, hemophilia
anti factor Xa activity, renal studies, bleeding, ecchymosis, black stools, petechiae. Use soft toothbrush from bleeding gums, report bleeding, not OTC products

heparin effect
prevents deep vein thrombosis by preventing clotting
why use heparin
prevent deep vein thrombosis open heart surgery clotting syndrome atrial fibrillation with embolization anticoagulant in transfusion & dialysis maintain indwelling venipuncture device
