Anticholinergics Flashcards
Vecuronium
Nicotinic receptor antagonist; used during surgery to relax muscles
Atropine
MR antagonist (CNS included); used for organophosphate poisoning, surgery to prevent secretions and bradycardia; SE: belladonna/tachycardia
Pralidoxime
AChE reactivator; used for organophosphate poisoning peripherally
Pancuronium
Nicotinic receptor antagonist; used during surgery to relax muscles
Glycopyrrolate
MR antagonist (quaternary); used for surgery to prevent secretions and bradycardia
Neostigmine
Anticholinesterase; stop non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents
Pyridostigmine
Anticholinesterase; prophylaxis for nerve gas
Sarin, Soman, Tabun, VX, Cyclosarin
Organophosphates; nerve gases *Tabun cannot be fixed by pralidoxime
Physostigmine
Anticholinesterase; used for belladona poisoning by benedryl
Succinylcholine
Nicotinic receptor agonist- relaxes skeletal muscles via depolarization block; used for hyperkalemia leading to cardiac arrest
Rocuronium
RAPID Nicotinic receptor antagonist; used during brief procedures to relax muscles
Tolterodine
MR antagonist; used for urinary incontinence by relaxing detrusor muscle
Scopolamine
MR antagonist (CNS included); used as anti-emetic; SE: belladonna/sedation
Solifenacin
MR antagonist; used for urinary incontinence by relaxing detrusor muscle
Parathion
Organophosphate; used as insecticide
