Why we measure enzyme activity 2-3 weeks after attack at g6pd def

A

The older, more deficient red blood cells (RBCs) are destroyed rapidly.
2. The remaining circulating RBCs are younger (reticulocytes), and these have higher G6PD enzyme levels than older RBCs.
3. Testing during this period may give a false-normal enzyme activity level, leading to a missed diagnosis.
