Anatomy of Pancreas Flashcards
5 parts of pancreas
Uncinate process , Head , Neck , Body , Tail
The only intraperitoneal part of pancreas
Tail
Rest is retroperitoneal
Acini?
Berry like clusters producing enzyme precursors
Connected by short intercalated ducts
Intercalated ducts (where do they drain?)
Between acini
Unite with adjacent Draining Lobules
Drain into network of Intra-Lobular Collecting Ducts
Drain into Main Pancreatic Duct
Pancreatic section of billary tree
Pancreatic duct + common bile duct
Ampulla of Vater
(into duodenum - guarded by sphincter of ODDI)
Pancreas Head Arterial supply
splenic artery –> pancreatic branches
Coeliac Trunk → Gastroduodenal Artery → Superior/Inferior Pancreaticoduodenal Arteries
Rest of pancreas arterial supply
splenic artery –> pancreatic branches
Head venous drainage
Superior Mesentery branches of Hepatic Portal Vein
Rest of pancreas venous drainage
drained by Pancreatic Veins via Splenic Vein
lymphatics
Empty into pancreaticosplenic nodes + pylonic nodes
Drain into Superior Mesenteric + Coeliac lymph nodes
