Anatomy of gall bladder Flashcards
Region of abdomen?
Right hypochondrial region
Sections of gallbladder (superior to inferior)
Fundus
Body
Neck
Biliary tree (+ function for gallbladder)
Series of gastrointestinal ducts
Allows newly synthesises bile (from liver) to be concentrated + stored in the gallbladder
Biliary tree
Common Hepatic duct + Cystic duct Common Bile duct Pancreatic Duct Ampulla of Vater (Empties into duodenum via major duodenal papilla) - gaurded by sphincter of Oddi
Arterial supply
Coeliac Trunk → Common Hepatic Artery → Right Hepatic Artery → Cystic Artery → Gallbladder
Venous drainage of neck
Gallbladder → Cystic Veins → Hepatic Portal Vein
Venous drainage of fundus + body
Via Hepatic Sinusoids
Parasympathetic innervation
via Vagus Nerve
Produces contraction of gallbladder
Contraction = bile into cystic duct + relaxation of sphincter of Oddi
Sympathetic innervation
via Coeliac Plexus + Sensory Fibres
Most of response mediated by circulatory hormone (cholecystokinin) + gustatory response (taste)
