Amiodarone indication
A
- SHOCK REFRACTORY VF/PULSELESS VT
- POLYMORPHIC VT/ WIDE COMPLEX TACHYCARDIA
- CONTROL OF HEMODYNAMICALLY STABLE VT WHEN CARDIOVERSION IS UNSUCCESSFUL
- Termination of ectopic or multifocal atrial tachycardia with preserved LV function
- Rate control in A-fib or A-flutter when other therapies are ineffective

Amiodarone contraindication
A
- Hypersensitivity to Cordarone
2. CARDIOGENIC SHOCK, SINUS BRADYCARDIA, 2ND OR 3RD DEGREE AV BLOCK UNLESS THE PACEMAKER IS AVAILABLE

Amiodarone cautions
A
- Vasodilation and hypotension
- Negative inotropic effect and prolonged QT interval
- RENAL FAILURE

Amiodarone dosage and administration
A
- Cardiac arrest
a. 300mg IV/IO push, repeat 150 mg (3-5min)
b. Max dose: 2.2 g IV/IO 24 hours
c. Pediatric: 5 mg/kg IV/IO push, up to max of 300 mg. May repeat to total dose of 15 mg/kg - Wide complex tachycardia
a. Infusion of 150 mg IV/IO over 10 min
b. Repeat every 10 min as needed
