Altimeter Setting Flashcards
Altimeter setting region
All low-level airspace in the SDA
Aircraft must set their altimeter to the altimeter setting of the station nearest to the aircraft
Standard pressure region
All high-level airspace plus low-level airspace in the NDA
Aircraft altimeter must be set to standard pressure of 29.92 inches of mercury/ 1013.2 hectopascals
in this region Flight level is used instead of altitude
Passing from altimeter setting region to standard pressure region in level cruise
Pilot will set altimeter to 29.92 inches of mercury immediately after leaving the altimeter setting region
Passing from standard pressure region into altimeter setting region in level cruise
Pilot will obtain the current altimeter setting from the nearest station along the flight route and will set the altimeter immediately prior to entering the altimeter setting region
Climbing from altimeter setting region to standard pressure region
Pilot will set altimeter to 29.92 inches of mercury immediately after leaving the altimeter setting region
Descending from the standard pressure region into the altimeter setting region
Pilot will obtain the current altimeter setting from the nearest station along the flight route and will set the altimeter immediately prior to entering the altimeter setting region
