What happens in Act 3, Scene 1?
A
Banquo thinks about MB’s coronation and the witches prophecies. MB and LMB ask Banquo to attend their feast that they will host that night. Banquo accepts and says that he will go for a ride that evening. MB suggests that they should discuss the problems of Malcolm and Donaldbain - the brothers have fled and may be plotting against his crown.
MB begins his soliloquy reflecting on Banquo and how although they are friends, he fears him. He fears that the murder of Duncan may have cleared the way for Banquo’s sons to overthrow MB’s own family.
MB hires murderers to murder Banquo. He convinces the murderers of the wrong doings of Banquo. MB reminds them that Fleance must be killed along with Banquo.
