accessory of the trunk/ functional anatomy Flashcards

1
Q

thorcaolumbar fascia

A

3 layers
posterior- covers back muscles- spinous process of lateral vert
middle- quadratus lumborum is in front- tp of lat vert
deep- psoas major in front- vert body

attach to transverse abdominals

muscles contract- tightens and pulls on vert making them stiff providing stability
retinaculum for back muscles
attachment for muscles
stability in lumbar transmit force to lower

Q

lumbopelvic stability

A

posteriorlateral wall- quadratus lumborum, psoas major

anteriorlateral wall- abdominal muscles

pelvic floor

  • co-contraction will stiffen trunk
  • intraabdominal pressure- increase spine stiffness
  • thoracolumbar fascia- tension here increase intrabdominal pressure
