- Kay Gilderdale broke law by assisting suicide of seriously ill daughter but received lesser charge (shows it may be difficult to persuaded juries when they see an individuals act morally
- eg Suffragetees, Cat and Mouse act allowed S to be released from prison temporarily to get their health back from hunger strikes to be returned to prison
