- go to hearing (ADJUDICATION) where offences are talked about, hearing run by governor or someone outside prison called independent adjudicator

A
- no escaping, no drugs, no alcohol, listen to staff, no damaging property
- phased discipline approach is lesser punishments for first offences leading to more sanctions for repeat offences (eg, warning to seclusion for repeat offences)
