Abnormal Scenarios & Operations Flashcards

1
Q

Flap/Slat Fault/Locked.
Points to remember.

A

Pull speed.
Overspeed warning based on actual slat/flap position.

Configuring in accordance with QRH:

SPD SEL…………VFE NEXT -5 kt - can be below manoeuvre speed as long as above VLS

The speed reduction and configuration changes should preferably be carried out wings level [FCTM]

Briefing topics from FCTM:
- Tail strike awareness

  • The go-around configuration
  • Any deviation from standard call out
  • The speeds to be flown, following a missed approach
  • At the acceleration altitude, selected speed must be used to control the acceleration to the required speed for the configuration.

Autoland not available!

Q

SMOKE CONFIG.
Points to remember.

A

May still land in ALTN/DIRECT LAW due IR 2 and IR 3 being unpowered in SMOKE config.
Note at end of ELEC EMER CONFIG SYS REMAINING table says can keep IR3 powered with ATT-HDG Selector switching which may lead to retaining NORMAL LAW.
This would reduce landing distance required (DIRECT LAW landing - CONF 3 only and VREF + 10/15 kt (depending on A/C type)

Q

Simple method for manual pressurisation

A

Could try and finesse it and follow the cabin alt vs aircraft alt schedule - difficult
OR
- Start the aircraft descending at a steady rate - ask ATC for constant descent all way down
- Look at what happens to cabin alt.
- Use blips on the manual cabin vs switch to keep the cabin alt constant.
- Maybe you can look at Cab V/S on Pressurisation page and select the opposite with Man V/S switch
(I think cabin alt will descend as go into denser air therefore need to blip “increase” cabin alt)
- Then when aircraft reaches cabin alt, fully open the outflow valve.

Q

What considerations need to be made with regards to landing with one reverser inop?

A

Can still use remaining reverser.

FCTM says select both reversers if one operative; thrust to idle if neither operative.

Autoland - can sometimes (?) only use reverse idle on remaining engine - see note below Autoland Wind Limit table in Operational Quick Access.

Q

What is special about a dual slat channel fail?

A

A320 and A321: Alternate Law, Direct Law when gear down. AP and A/THR lost.

A319: Alternate Law when slats locked at 0 and select CONF2

There is a separate FCOM section for SLATS FAULT/LOCKED. Look at it in addition to FLAPS/SLATS FAULT/LOCKED
