Punch Block Series-Defending from Guard.
Slice 1: Close Control.
Position: Op is in your Guard.
Indication: How do you defend punches from the guard?
High knees to control Op’s arms.
Hold Op close with your legs.
One elbow on top of Op’s arm to prevent punches.
Your other arm hugs Op’s neck.
Your head off the ground. Close or touching Op’s head.
If If Op tries to pass his hand through inside, swim your arm through to re-establish control (on arm side) or switch neck hug arm and swim your other arm out (on neck hug side).

Slice 2: Low Punch
Position: Op is in your Guard.
Indication: Op responds to Slice 1 by pulling an arm back to punch at your head or body..
When Op pulls back for a punch, fill the space with your knee. Your foot should land on Op’s hip.
Hook Op’s arm down with spoon grip to hold behind your knee.
Both sides if necessary.
Op will either lean in towards you (pull Op in with your knees till you can re-wrap into Slice 1) or move further back (Slice 3, 4, or 5).
Note: When I have the knee/hook on Op’s arm, they could try to swim past your arm. Respond by swim past and re-establishing knee/hook. Manage the gap between your knee and arm.

Slice 3: Op sits all the way up
Position: Op is in your Guard.
Indication: Op sits all the way up to throw a knock out punch.
Op shoves on the ground or your chest hard enough to pull free from Stage 1 or 2 an sit up.
When you feel that you are loosing Op, switch from pull to push.
Pop Op back with your arms and your knees shoot in to land on Op’s chest. Feet on Op’s hips.
Raise your bottom off the ground to push Op back.
If Op leans in to punch, turtle up (they will probably get a punch in), raise your knees to guide them in and switch back to Stage 1.
If Op goes to stand up switch to Stage 4 or 5.
Order can be 1,2,3,4,5 1,3,1 1,4,1 1,3,4,1 1,2,4,1 etc.

Slice 4: Op stands up
Position: Op is in your Guard.
Indication: Op decides to stand up, while continuing to try to punch.
When I see Op’s foot touch the ground, I switch from pull to push.
Pop Op back and place your feet on Op’s hips. Feet horizontal, like a belt.
Your bottom lands on the ground. Knees slightly bent.
Turtle up.
If Op leans in hard, curl your feet in to guide them back to Stage 1.
Or, if Op moves away, switch to Stage 5.
Order can be 1,2,3,4,5 1,3,1 1,4,1 1,3,4,1 1,2,4,1 etc.
