4. Take the Back Flashcards
Take the Back
Position: Mount
Slice 1: Take the Back
Indication: Op’s hand crosses in front of your chest. Op wants to get on their hands and knees.
Caution: If you keep your hooks in, you may get trapped under your opponent, allowing them to break loose.
Transition to Modified Mount:
Unweight Op to allow the roll.
Foot that Op is rolling towards plants on the ground.
Outside knee moves up behind Op’s head.
Both hands plant on the ground, making you light and mobile.
Allow Op to roll.
As soon as Op’s hip is high enough, sink outside foot (the leg that was near Op’s head) into a hook.
Second foot in as Op’s roll reaches hands and knees.
Scoot low. Weight on hands and toes.
Shoot one hand under an arm, other next to Op’s neck and clinch.
Keep your hooks in as Op rolls (don’t cross your legs).
