Q

what happens in early prophase

(mitosis) P for preparation stage

A
  • chromatin fibres coil and condense:become visable
  • protein microtubles form spindle shaped structures to link the poles
  • two centrioles (help ) migrate to opposite poles to help the formation of spindles
  • nuclear membrane dissolves

Q

how do chromosomes become visable

A

dna associates with histone proteins to form a complex called chromatin. chromatin condenses and coils to form chromosones wich become visible

Q

what happens during metaphase

(mitosis) M for middle

A

Q

what happens during Anaphase

(mitosis) A for anti (they go to opposite sides)

A
  • centromere divides (not splits!)
  • chromatids pulled to opposite poles by shortning (not contracting ) spindles
  • v shaped due to being dragged in liquid cytosol

Q

what happens in teleophase

(mitosis) T for the end

A
  • the nuclear envelope refoms
  • chromosomes uncoil
  • nucleuolous is formed
