5.4 active transport Flashcards
1
Q
Active transport
A
movment of molecules or ions into or out of cells from lower concentration to higher concentration
2
Q
Active transport across a membrnae mechanism
A
- molecule binds to the receptors in the carrier protein
- inside the cell ATP binds and is hydrolysed into ADP
- This cause the protein to change shape opening up the other side
- the phosphate molecule is released nd recombinds to foem ATP
- the carrier protein returns to its original shpe
its a selective process
3
Q
Bulk transport
A
for large molecules eg. enzymes and hormones via exo/endocytosis
4
Q
Endocytosis mechanism
A
transport bulk material into a cell.Phagocytosis for liquids and pinocytosis for liquids
1.a cell can suround the substance with a section of the plasm membrne
2.that membrane pinches off to form vesicle
3.this is a active process and requires ATP
5
Q
excoytosis
A
