5.4 Flashcards
What is cohesion?
The ability for molecule to attract to itself.
What is adhesion?
The ability for a molecule to attract to other molecules.
What is a solvent and solute and what is the difference?
Solvent is dissolving the solute (Water-solvent,
Salt-solute)
What is concentration and how do you affect it?
Concentration is the amount of solute in a solvent per area. Adding more solvent leads to an increased concentration.
What does pH and pOH stand for?
pH- Potential Hydronium
pOH- Potential Hydroxide
If you add more hydroxide?
More Hydronium?
More hydroxide makes the substance more acidic, but more Hydronium makes the substance more basic.
If there is an equal solution, what can be determined about the levels of O3H and OH?
They are equal
What is the neutral number for acidity?
7
If a certain substance has a pH level of 10, what follows about the acidity and the pOH level?
pOH is 4 and the substance is acidic.
