4.3 Flashcards
What is a positive feedback loop?
I loop where every time the output goes around to the input, it is amplified.
What is a negative feedback loop?
A loop where the input is reduced after the output.
What is an example of a negative feedback loop?
When your body causes you to sweat, which brings your body temperature down. (Sweat reduces the out put)
What are the main greenhouse gases?
Carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor.
How do greenhouse gases work?
They reject some of the sun’s incoming rays, while some of them get through. Then, some of the infrared light that is reflected back to them is reflected back to earth, while a little bit passes back into space.
If the ice core has a lump of dirt or ash at the bottom, was that recent or long ago?
long ago
where does the light come from?
The sun
what parts of the earth does the sun heat?
land Ocean, and air
with more greenhouse gases, what would you expect to happen to the temperature?
it will increase
