A

head of humerus is removed and replaced with a metal or ceramic ball and can either be attached to metal stem or screws (stemless)
metal socket for gelnoid
can do reverse

Gustilo-Anderson classification of open fractures

A
  • Type 1= low-energy clean wound <1cm with minimal soft tissue injury and fracture comminution
  • Type II= wound 1-10cm with moderate soft tissue damage and fracture comminution
  • Type III= high energy, wound >10cm (A= no periosteal stripping, B= periosteal stripping and C has major vascular injury)
