4.1 - The parable of the sower Flashcards

1
Q

Explain the parable of the sower.

A

A sower was sowing. Some seed fell on the path and the birds came and ate it up. Other seed fell on the rocky ground where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly since it had no depth of soil. It was scorched by the sun. It had no root so it withered away. Other seed fell in the thorns. The thorns grew up quickly and choked it. It yielded no grain. Other seed fell in the good soil and brought forth grain. It yieled 30 and 60 a hunderedfold.

The sower sows the word. The ones who fall on the path have Satan immediately come and take the word sown into them away. The ones who fall on rocky ground they immediately receive it with joy. But they have no root and when persecution or difficulty comes they fall away. The ones who fall among the thorns receive the word but are not interested and are too attached to weath and other wordly possessions. They come in and choke the word. The ones sown in the good soil receive the word and accept it. They bear fruit thirty and sixty and a hundredfold.
