Explain the story of Jesus in Gethsemane
Jesus and the disciples went to Gethsemane. Jesus told them to stay whilst he prayed. He took Peter, James and John with Him to pray and told them to keep awake whilst he did so. he went and a little further He threw himself on the ground and prayed that He wouldn’t have to suffer. Then He came back and James and John were sleeping. he told them to pray they wouldn’t be put on trial. Then He went away and prayed the same words. Then he came back and saw them sleeping again. He woke them and the whole process repeated a third time. This time, Judas appeared with a crows with swords and clubs. They arrested Jesus. Peter retaliated but then backed off. The disciples deserted Him and fled.
What did Jesus confess to peter, James and John?
That He was deeply grieved, even to death.
What did Judas say to the mob?
‘The one I will kiss is the man; arrest Him and lead Him away under guard’.
What word did Jesus use when referring to God? What does this show?
He used the word ‘Abba’. This shows that he was very close to God because it means father.
