(Mark 11:1-11)
Jesus and his disciples were approaching Jerusalem. Jesus sent his disciples into the next village to get a colt for him to ride. They brought the colt to Jesus. The disciples put their cloaks on the colt for Jesus to sit on. Then he rode into Jerusalem. People put their cloaks and big branches on the road. The people started shouting and praising Him.

6)
What is the significance of the colt?
it is not what a warrior would ride. It is a small unthreatening vehicle and associated with peace and innocence. Jesus was portraying himself as a peaceful king/messiah and not a warrior. This may have been so he didn’t pose a threat to the Romans.

How is Jesus entry different from the prophecies?
The prophecies described the Messiah as a warrior who would free the Jews from Roman control. This is what most people believed Jesus was. However he specifically tried to not show this.

They spread their cloaks and palm tree branches on the ground. This is how they would treat a king entering Jerusalem.
