Retell the story of the paralyzed man (Mark 2:1-12)
Jesus was at home. Some people arrived with a special delivery - a paralysed man. There were so many other people around the home, they cut a hole in His roof and lowered the man in. Jesus healed the man. he left.

‘Son, your sins are forgiven’

What was the reaction to Jesus’ first response?
People thought it to be blasphemy. They doubted his holiness.

How did Jesus respond to their negative response?
he asked why they were questioning his holiness. he then basically said that he can forgive sins and it is the same as Him saying to the man, ‘get up and walk’.

Did the paralyzed man have faith or not?
We don’t know. It doesn’t say in the text.

Why did Jesus believe that forgiving the man’s sins would heal him?
because suffering was thought to be a punishment for sin. And his paralyzed body was a form of suffering. So Jesus forgave his sins and healed him.

How did the Jewish religious teachers feel about this?
They didn’t say anything but Jesus knew they were unhappy. They thought only God could forgive sins. They accused Him of blasphemy.
