Explain the story of the Last Supper.
On Passover, the disciples asked where to go for meal preparations. Jesus said there is a man in the city who is carrying a jug of water. He has a large room ready for them. During the meal, Jesus said one of them will betray Him. The disciples were in disbelief. Jesus then did a special ritual with the bread and wine. Then they went to the mount of Olives.
What did Jesus say about the one who will betray Him?
‘Woe to that one whom the Son of Man is betrayed! it would have been better for that one not to have been born.’
What did Jesus do with the bread and say?
He broke the bread. Then He said ‘This is my body’.
What did he say and do with the wine?
He gave thanks over it and drank it. Then he said ‘This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many’.
Breaking the bread and giving thanks over the wine was what?
Normal for a Passover. But Jesus gave it new meaning.
