-suppliers must be able to respond very quickly
-cannot afford for anything to go wrong

-can learn from employees
-employees can be motivated

-can take a long time to improve
-not everyone wants to take part
what is the definition of production?
process of changing inputs (e.g. raw materials) into a finished good/service that can be sold
what is the definition of job production?
a method of production in which a product is supplied to meet the exact requirements of a customer
what is the definition of flow production?
occurs when an item moves continuously from one stage of the process to another
what are the advantages of job production?
-gain an advantage over larger rivals
-can justify higher prices
-when you can’t afford the technology to mass produce you can easily create personal products
what are the disadvantages of job production?
-can’t mass produce
-expensive
-time consuming
-requires skilled employees that need a lot of training
-hard to get a profit
