3 Vaccination Flashcards
How do vaccinations work
Dead or inactive pathogens are used to trigger the production of antibodies by white blood cells if the same live pathogen then enters the body the white blood cells will rapidly mass produced the right antibodies to kill it so that the person doesn’t get ill
If enough people are immune to a particular pathogen what does that mean
The spread of the pathogen is reduced
What are the pros and cons of vaccinations

-they’ve helped control lots of infectious diseases e.g. No more smallpox
-epidemics can be prevented if a large percentage of the population is vaccinated
Cons
