Things that increase the likelihood that someone will develop a certain disease but having a rest factor doesn’t mean that someone will definitely get disease

- developed countries noncommunicable diseases are more common as people generally have a high income
- deprived areas More likely to smoke or have a poor diet and not exercise this means that incidence of cardiovascular disease obesity and Type II diabetes is higher in those areas
