Q

Solving one step equations, how do you solve one step equations?

X + 13 = 20

A

X = 7

Do the Inverse

Explaination: To find the value of any variable in a one step equation, do the inverse operation of what was done FIRST to the variable on both the left side of the equals sign after doing this the answer that is left will be what the variable is equivalent to. For instance, if you subtract 13 from both sides of the equation, it will reveal the value of the variable.

Do the Inverse

Explaination: To find the value of any variable in a one step equation, do the inverse operation of what was done FIRST to the variable on both the left side of the equals sign after doing this the answer that is left will be what the variable is equivalent to. For instance, if you divide 8 from both sides of the equation, it will reveal the value of the variable.

Solving two step equations, how do you solve two step equations?

:

2X + 6 = 20

A

X = 7

!!* TO FIGURE OUT WHICH NUMBER TO DO THE INVERSE TO DO THE NUMBER FURTHEST AWAY FROM THE VARIABLE HOWVER NOT PAST THE EQUAL SIGN IN THIS CASE, 6!!*

Explaination: To find the value of any variable in a two step equation Identify the operation that is being done to the variable (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division).
Perform the inverse operation to isolate the variable on its own side of the equation. EXAMPLE: ( X = 2 + 6)
Simplify both sides of the equation after doing the steps above until you have the variable on its own on one side and the statement/solution - EXAMPLE: (x = 6)

Q

Solving two step equations EVERYTHING ON A DIVSION SIGN, how do you solve two step equations? EVERYTHING ON A DIVISION

:

X+7/5 = 7

A

X = 28

HOWEVER THIS TIME ITS DIFFERENT BECAUSE AND EVEN THOUGH ITS ON A DIVISION SIGN YOU STILL HAVE TO SINGLE OUT THE VARIABLE, IN THIS CASE IS X MEANING THAT YOU HAVE TO USE THE NUMBER THAT IS STILL FURTHEST AWAY FROM X BUT NOT BEHIND THE EQUALS SIGN BUT DO THE INVERSE OPERATION ON THE DIVISION SIGN MAKING IT THIS ( X + 7 = 35) WHO EVER WHATEVER YOU DO ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE EQUAL SIGN YOU HAVE TO DO ON THE RIGHT MAKING THE

7 BE 35 BECUASE OF THAT RULE SO YES YOUVE DONE THE INVERSE (X5 TWICE) NOW YOU NEED TO Simplify both sides of the equation FROM (X+7/5 = 7) TO THIS ( X + 7 = 35) after doing thAT above YOU DO THE INVERSE AGAIN ( - 7 ON BOTH SIDES) until you have the variable on its own on one side and the statement/solution!

!!BE CAREFUL ON THIS BECAUSE MANY STUDENTS FORGET THIS IS A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT QUESTION THEN ORDINARY TWO STEP EQUATIONS AND MAKE MISTAKES!!
