When will a Desk Officer allow a parent/guardian to visit a prisoner between 16-21 yrs of age?
No longer than 15 minutes, in muster room, and:
A. DB Sq Commander, AO or DO Pct of Arrest consulted
B. Visit in presence of DO/Boro Ct Supv
C. Detained MORE than 4 hours
D. NOT eligible for a summons
E. Doesn’t interfere with police business
When will additional escorting officers be assigned?
A. 3 or more prisoners being guarded, no transport chains avail.
B. 10 or more transported on Transport Chains
C. Several Detention stops involved
D. More than one prisoner with different destination
E. High Risk Prisoner
When will leg restrains be used on a prisoner?
H.E.R.
Hospital treatment
Escape Risk
Refused Prints
Who prepares the Prisoner Transport Dispatch?
Cell Attendant.
If not available, then Escorting Officer prepares.
If more than one prisoner and different destinations involved, then separate Dispatch will be prepared for EACH destination.
What property removed from a hospitalized prisoner and brought to the DO, Pct of Arrest?
U APPLIED
Unlawfully carried Auxiliary shield Pistol license Press card (issued by this Dept) Lawfully carried but danger to life, or used to escape Itemized list of personal prop EXCEPT clothing (Kept by Hosp) Evidence Deface/Damage property
Who examines a hospital room for escape potential when a prisoner is admitted to hospital?
Patrol Supervisor
Request prisoner be moved to a more secure location if room inadequate.
Lack of cooperation gets reported to the Commanding Officer.
Who will the guarding cop get permission from in order to let a hospitalized prisoner make a telephone call?
Patrol Supervisor or Desk Officer
*Make Activity Log entry of Supv who authorized.

Who is allowed to visit a hospitalized prisoner?
1- Recipient of telegram from Hospital superintendent with notification prisoner is seriously ill.
2- Lawyer, if requested by prisoner
3- Family member, after getting Official Letterhead from DO, Pct of Arrest, authorization. (No kids under 16)
Who prepares the Arr. Report Sup regarding visitors to a hospitalized prisoner?
DO, Pct of Arrest
Where do male and female prisoners requiring psychiatric hospitalization be removed to?
Male- Bellvued Hospital
Female- Elmhurst General Hospital
*Private ambulances used to transport, not FDNY.
Who gets remaining copies of a Prisoner Meal Voucher, which was prepared by DO for each prisoner meal?
Operations Coordinator.
A-Prepare separate Expense Report at end of each month for Each restaurant which meals were obtained.
B-Submit Expense Reports and Prisoner Meal Vouchers to CO.
What is considered a Prisoner Unusual Occurrence?
M.E.S.I.
MOS is assaulted
Escapes/Attempts to escape
Sexually assaulted/harassed or alleges such by anyone inc prisoner
Involved in any other occurrence of an unusual nature
Who will the DO Notify for a Prisoner Unusual Occurrence?
CO/ Duty Capt always
Operations Unit, always
IAB, ONLY IF PRISONER Escapes or Attempts Escape
