What is the aim of a case study?
To provide a detailed and in-depth analysis
Outline how a case study tends to be carried out
Tend to be longitudinal studies, may involve gathering data from family and friends of individual as well as the person themselves

Often involve analysis of unusual individuals or events, e.g. a person with a red disorder or an unusual sequence of events
Outline an typical case study
They may also concentrate on more typical cases, e.g. an elderly persons recollection of their childhood
What type of data do case studies usually involve?
Qualitative
What do researchers do before completing the study?
Construct a case history of individual or event, using interviews, observations, questionnaires or a combination
What may be used for assessments?
Psychological tests to determine intelligence or personality (produce quantitative data)
