1.8. Continuity and Change Flashcards
How do connections between places in the past shape their character in the present?
London and New York have been connected to each other and major cities by sea trade routes.
These connections helped them to become more wealthy, attract more people and become more closely linked to other cultures. They gradually became world cities- global centres of trade, politics, finance and culture, often with huge, diverse populations.
How do new connections between places affect their character?
London and New York are now more closely connected through industries such as finance an banking because of the internet and faster air travel
New connections have been made to add to the character of Sheffield - students
