Florentine who worked in France for King Francis I. He made an extraordinary gold and enamel saltcellar of Francis I between 1539 and 1543. its functional, yet elegant and fantastic. He wrote that figures should be elongated, the with small heads and boneless limbs are graceful and charming.

Cosimo de medici commissioned a new sculpture, perseus, and questioned cellini´s ability to complete a sculpture in bronze. He responded with confidence. In his autobiography he exaggerated portrayal of himself and others. This typifies the mannerist tendency. Cellini is all drama and vigor.
