06f. Training Session Flashcards

1
Q

What are 3 reasons why we do a warm up

A

Prepares body both physiologically and psychologically for conditioning phase of session. Increased blood flow to muscles therefore decreased deficit and increase in muscle temperature therefore increased flexibility. Improves range of motion of the joints and muscles to decrease the risk of injury.

Q

What are 3 reasons why we do an active recovery

A

Prevents venous pooling and therefore DOMS. Therefore athletes can resume training/train harder earlier. Allows for gradual recovery of heart rate and blood pressure. Increases flexibility

Q

Describe how to do an active recovery.

A

Do the same activity at a lower intensity. Include an aerobic component and static and PNF stretching.

Q

Lisst 3 reasons why a coach would want to record and monitoring training data

A

Compare the aims of the training program with what is actually being achieved, Identify signs of overtraining or a need for progression,Provide information that allows for modifications to be made in order to increase specificity of program and chance of success.

Q

Describe and give 2 examples of psychological data you could record

A

Provides the athlete with an understanding of their mental readiness and mental capacity to train and perform. Eg Motivation levels, arousal levels, stress levels, confidence levels.

Q

Describe and give 2 examples of sociological data you could record

A

Provides context about the broader social, cultural and environmental factors that contribute to an athletes performance. Who you trained with, temperature and weather conditions during the session, time of day, venue you trained at etc.
