Q

Airplane landing calculation at destination and alternate airport

How is the runway selected

A
  • (FAR 121.95)Airplane must be able to be brought to a full stop within 60% of the effective length of a dry runway from a point 50’ above the runway. If the runway is wet or slippery the AFM landing distance is increased by 115%
    o Dry landing distance x 1.67 < Runway Available
    o Wet landing distance x 1.92 < Runway Available
    • Most favorable runway and direction
    • Most suitable based on the probable wind, landing aids, and terrain
