German workeres conscripted so use of foreign workers needed wich included civillians from occupied territories prisoners of war and slave labourers

how was daily life effected by war?

A

wages were less and nazis took control of working hours
rationg introduced (toilet paper and soap difficult to get hold of warm water restricted to 2 times per week to save energy ate ersatz or substitute food)
food and clothes rationing began in 1939 but while germany was winning the war most goods easily bought
at the strat of war ratoning meant germans ate better than before war but later in 1942 people living on rations of bread vegtables and potatoes rations decreased as war progressed

A

more women and children had to work especially after 1941 after heavy defeats from russsia. by 1944 50% of the geerman workforce were women (which was up from 37% in 1939)

A

from 1940 people rapidally preparied for bombing (hundreds community air raid shelters built Auxillary hospitals and first aid station sestablished to deal with civiliian injuries
1942- British and American begin heavily bombing german citites half a million german civillians killed
heavy bonings and dresden and hamburg ( bombed with incendiary bombs desgined to start fiers)
growing number of refugees that struggled to find food and shelter
