operations undertaken to alter the structure of the body for medical reasons
what was a c-section in medieval times?
it was a last resort only given if a mother is dying and the only pain rleife was herbs or prayer. All mothers were told to profess their sins when in labour due to the high risk of death

was when a needle was put through he eye and back to remove cataracts and was sometimes successful but had a high risk of destroying the eye

a hot iron was put up the anus to burn off hemeroids

when holes were drilled into people’s heads to relive the presure in the brain, expell deamons, cure epilepsy or migrains as well as mental illnesses or disorders

little could be done to stop the pain they sent the patient to sleep with natural substances and alcohol

they would cauterise wounds with a heated iron this could be very painful and was sometimes fatal
