Q

What is inductive? And what is inductive approach?

A

Generate and establish new organisational knowledge structure, potential opportunities are nurtured. understanding environment, and interacting with it gives managers a greater understanding of it. and the manager is inevitably creating it as much as it is creating the manager. Strategising in the periphery is more intuitive than planned.

Q

What is deductive? And what is deductive approach?

A

They think that the perfect strategy is external of the organisation, and are searching for that position (eg. Porter). it is the role of a strategiest to find that ideal strategy. Top-down decision-making. Theory driven.

Q

What is the four outcomes of this paper?

A
  1. The four abilities facilitate and create sensemaking.
  2. Scenarios are socially constructed narratives that provide mean by which sensemaking of the future can be enhanced.
  3. Transformational strategies are more likely to originate at the organisation’s periphery than from its centre.
  4. Individuals who operate at the organisation’s margin create new strategy through acts of induction, and therefore are more accurate perceived.
