Normann, 2001 Ch. 11 - Change and Creation - OK deck Flashcards
How does Normann explain uncertanties?
All activities involve uncertainties. But there is two different changes:
- The changes that occur around more or less stable normal states.
- The changes that happens in the parameters of a system = requires management.
- Structural change can only be dealt with, with structural planning - has to be done by management.
- Innovation deals with a future that we do not really know, can we plan it?
What is Hysterically hyperactive organisations?
Normann does not like learning organizations or what he describe as chaos, he think that when everyone in the organization is working on a project of their own - nothing happens. He says it leads to confusion and no new structure nor frameworks.
He calls this organization for hysterically hyperactive.
How do companies change?
Elements and processes rather than big blueprints.
- Acting and reacting to the environment
- Adapting to the changing environment.
- Change and choose which mechanism that is closest to the environment.
- Communicating these successful mappings.
How can we understand the world?
Easy, by discourses. (FUCK YEA METHOD COURSE!).
Normann uses the ismple world “language” - but we know better = it is by the discourses.
“The world can be seen and understand through discourses. We see and interoperate our surrounding with our language.”
