Why use training log Flashcards
What many of us do when it comes to keeping track of training log.
not maintaining one or simply going through the motions by scribbling our WOD times in a notebook or spreadsheet
What can a well maintained training log do
precipitated an injury ,little things you might have done differently the last time you were setting PRs at a feverish pace.
Injury prevention and training log
jot down the slightest of niggles so that u can intervene with appropriate reasoning down the line . example right knee pain 6/10
To know what works for u , setting PRs
What program
- weights lifted and old times, eating habits,
-mobility
recovery
- weekly training volume
a training log provides a great way to isolate and track PRs and provide guidance for replicating what works for you.
Quick tips for training log
Keep a month or longer “at a glance” page where you simply plan and track your training at a high level (days on and off, strength vs. met-con, time domains, etc.).
• Note how you perform when you train at a different time of day than usual.
• As an alternative to keeping a detailed food journal, record a simple numeric rating of your daily eating habits. For example, give yourself a 5 if you ate clean all day (see above).
Pragmatic reason to keep a detailed training log is to identify root cause for particular injury.
While acute injuries leave little doubt as to their cause, most injuries happen over time and are an accumulation of many different types of stressors. These chronic injuries also happen to be the most difficult to diagnose, as well as the most troublesome from which to recover.
Celebrating success
Track weights lifted for each movement, review weekly, monthly and yearly. When you run into challenges how you can tackle them.
Goal Setting
Piece of paper, writing goals makes them real, do bunch of small things consistently.
Goal setting tips
- Specific and measurable goals, ex add 10 kgs to delft by month end, or improve snatch …..schedule a specific day, ex. day 3,6,9…etc
Planning
Plan days to train and days to work on goals, specific days for skill training, snatch , HSPU, etc, schedule recovery days in advance.
Accountability
Accountability membership demands, measure for accountability, quick tips: Measure 10 Cf general skills, set bench mark for them, quarterly measure retest, track them all in a page.
Nostalgia
Motivating, intriguing and entertaining.
Does replicating old training methods that brought about changes help?
No, there is no stimulating factor.
Performance goals
Make a page for performance goals and review them frequently
