- S&S of viral infection
- chest pain
- dyspnea
- pericardial friction rub & pericardial effusion (bc usually accomanies pericaditis)
- S&S of HF if it develops
- signs of decreased CO

- mailase
- headache

A
- cardiac dysfunction
= low CO, dysrhythmias, and possibly HF

- ECG
- leukocytosis
- increased ESR, CRP
- elevated myocardial markers (troponin)
- endomyocardial biopsy
- echo
- nuclear scans
- MRI

what is the treatment of myocarditis (4)
A
- cardiovascular support\
- mechanical circulatory support
- cardio drugs to decrease preload, afterload, or both
- HF meds if present

- O2 therapy
- bed rest
- restricted activity
- spaced activity and rest periods
- semi-fowler position
- quiet enviro
- treat anxiety
