Q

what is the remodelling phase?

A

when protruding bone surfaces are gradually removed, and healed bone especially in younger individuals, eventually assumes its normal contour

Q

can you determine the exact time of injury by examining it?

A

No, there are many variables that would affect bone healing process time.

nutrition, age, position (rotation, angulation, displacement), thickness of bone, vascularity @ fracture site, infection, underlying bone disease (eg, cancer, rickets, scurvy), periosteal integrity, soft tissue interposition, simple vs communuted fracture, previous fracture @ same site, atherosclerosis (hardening of arteries), intercurrent illnesses (illnesses occurring during same time frame as fracture)
