- Feeling threatened/frustrated (high arousal)
- Consumption of alcohol / social drugs
- PEDs / steroids
- Rivalries –> media can increase tensions

When you lose your sense of being an individual; this can cause violent behaviour

Performers
A
- Sport should be a mirror to society
- Violent acts should be treated the same in sport as on streets
- Important to educate performers on tackling emotions
- They are responsible for their own actions & there are consequences

- Spectators relish the idea of violence in the spectacle
- People who watch/follow sports = more inclined to violence in certain situs
- E.g. 2010 World cup –> huge surge in domestic violence mainly against women

- Education on controlling emotions/stress levels
- Fair play philosophy promoted
- Dealt with officials
- Many good officials can detect violence brewing
- Law enforcement for spectators
- CCTV methods
