What is DVT?
A
When normal venous return is impeded, predisposes to thrombosis

What are the causes of DVT
A
Immobility, malignancy, pregnancy/childbirth, oestrogens, haematological disorders

What are the symptoms of DVT?
A
“Pleuritic” chest pain.
Breathlessness, calf swelling, syncope, sudden death

What is the treatment for DVT?
A
Anticoagulants

What are Varicose Veins?
A
Tortuous and distended veins

What are the causes of varicose veins?
A
Incompetent valves in legs, impaired venous return.
Often associated with ulceration - ankles and lower legs.
