A

the ideals and customs of a society that ppl ID with. explains why we do what we do, so what motivates us to act. values determine the decisions we make. the practical pursuit and application of ideals by ppl

What is a core value?

A

first tier of values, so the ones that are the most nb to you that define a person. will lead to action regardless of the circumstance. ie taking the bus despite weather.

A

2nd tier, may be influenced by external variables. core value will always come first if they conflict. ie not taking the bus in the cold bc its not as nb to us.

A

from pressure to conform to societal or organizational norms. professional values.

A

we are searching for community and shared values as a result of our secular democratic society. she reasons this is bc of the impact of intense individualism, globalization, situational ethics approaches, media, overlap in ethics law and science.
