- Communiation may be intercepted and what steps have been taken to reduce such a possibility

- Time frame a client can expect a response
- If clients are a danger to themselves or others psychologist may disclose information to avert risk
what are some limitations fo teletherapy
- Some issues aren’t suited to this format
- Crisis intervention is diminished
- Non-verbal cues may lead to misunderstanding
- Email sms may not be received
- Psychologist might not be availbel to respond during expected timeframe
- Information may be fowarded inadvertently to a wrong address
- Other people may access clients email
WHen contacting clients what should psychologists take care of
When using answering machines, messag banks and email addresses - always check with the client what their perferred contact points are
What do you do if you believe someone is at risk
- Stay engaged with the client
- Obtain as many identifying details as they can
- Consult with a suitably informed colleague to assist their decision making
What do you do in group session to maintain confidentiality
Encourage participants to act with respect but also inform them that due to the nubmer of people involved confidentialtiy cannot be guaranteed
How do you maintain professional boundaries with clients when using email etc
Use professional language
What might happen when you send a message specific for one client
They may forward it to someone else
How do you mange the risk of a client forwarding your messages to others
FOrm a two way agreement with the client before engaging them that their messages will not be forwarded without the consent of the providder. Remind the cleint that emaill communication is specific to the client
What is it important to do when conducting internet research
Provide an option to opt out, ensure anonymity of the participant, only use client data with clients permission

on the hard drive of a computer, an external hard drive, the service provdiers hard drive or service, a D, other devices
