UK gov thru the Olympic delivery authority (UDA) responsible for planning, designing and building the venues and through the Olympic Games Legacy (OGLC) responsible for the legacy (what happens after the games)
The London mayor and transport for London (TFC) responsible for the transport systems during and after the games
What happened the process
Games were awarded to London in 2005
Venues were built and plans were made for hoe the venues would be used after the games had finished- this is called ‘planning a legacy’
The games took place as planned in 2012

What are the social positive effects
2800 homes derived from athletes village
1200 affordable- deprived inner city borough Newham
Jobs- higher standard of living (4800 on sight, 2000 in the resulting supply chain
New transport infrastructure inc roads and the impressive Stratford International railway-stations—> easier to travel
Local residents have access to sport venues- health and motivation
New colleges
What are economic positives
From 2014, the former IBC, will be home to ICity, a new sustainable, high tech commercial business district, w the most advanced digital infrastructure in Europe
4000 jobs created on site and 2000 jobs in the resulting supply chain—
What are the environmental positives
4000 trees planted and new habitats supported by breading programmes created
A water slide park created from the clean up of the River Lea and adjoining canals
300,000 tonnes of rubbish cleared and towpaths opened up to walkers and cyclists

What are the social negatives
Only 2800 homes (1200 affordable£ supposed to be 4000 homes inc 3000 affordable
Locals can’t afford
What are the economic negatives
Prior to redevelopment, 380 companies employing 11,000 were forced to relocate and not all stayed locally
43% of adult pop in Newham have no qualifications and cannot access the high tech jobs created in former IBC
