1) derelict land grants
For reclamation schemes inc Garden Festivals which were set up in areas of urban decline (eg Liverpool and Stone)
The aim was to showcase an area by attracting visitors
Hope was the business could follow to a redeveloped attractive site
2)Enterprise zones set up in areas of unemployment
Incentives offered to set up business such as reduced tax for 10 years and less planning controls
And attracted business of all kinds
- often companies relocated from nearby and so not ‘new’ business/jobs
3)Urban development cooperations
Set up inc London Docklands development corporations in 1981
Aims l- redevelop derelict land (by deindustrialisation / industrial closures and encourage private investors to redeveloped area

Aims- for a 10 year plan to transform 39 most deprived neighbourhoods and improve local people lives
Between 2002-2008 NDC partnerships saw improvement in these areas for most indicators including crime, housing and health
Some indicators did not improve such as education and unemployment
There were also large scale partnership schemes such as 2012 olympics and the regeneration of the Stratford and Newham areas

The city challenge
Local authorities- urban decline occurred and bus for funds for specific projects - eg Leicester transformed with ships services and housing
In total 30 city challenge partnerships were introduced in which local authorities worked w private companies to footer for funds to redevelop areas
What did the city challenge 1990 do
Improved 40000 homes and created 53000 jobs
Funds were spent preparing bids- of you didn’t win you didn’t receive funding
